Visit Sugar Grove
So you happen to be driving through Smyth County and you’d like to stop by Sugar Grove for a visit? Sounds good! Our community makes a great destination for a day trip. While you’re here, you should stop at Shirley’s Market for all of your dining and grocery needs. Shirley’s Market serves the only BBQ in Sugar Grove that is homemade daily. Looking to hunt or fish? Don’t forget to purchase your license here!
The Fall foliage, picturesque landscapes and mild weather make Sugar Grove a great place to hike, camp, fish hunt or ride horses. There are many trails around and about for these activities near the area. You can check with the Hurricane Campground for more information on these outdoor recreational activities, when they are available and requirements.
Seasonal events include a Spring-to-Fall farmers market where vendors can set up completely free of charge to sell their goods and keep 100% of the profits. There’s also an annual Fall Festival at Sugar Grove Combined School that features games, prizes and food for the whole family. Several churches and families in the area preserve our heritage and history by making apple butter and molasses (these goods often turn up at the farmers market!) among others. There’s also a wonderful annual car show as well!
